BioIT World Conference 2008

SAN DIEGO–Accelrys Inc. (NASDAQ:ACCL) today announced its intention to support Microsoft’s Office SharePoint Server 2007 as a publication platform for Accelrys’ scientific applications. In addition, Accelrys will work collaboratively with Microsoft to evaluate Windows HPC Server 2008 and other Microsoft platform products.

“Our collaboration with Microsoft allows Accelrys to deliver scientific capabilities and content to the broader scientific community via their desktops,” said Mark J. Emkjer, president and chief executive officer, Accelrys. “Microsoft’s broad reach further enhances the Accelrys ecosystem and expands our market opportunity as it helps us to deploy leading-edge technology that will enable rich scientific collaboration and allow research teams to make more informed decisions.”

“Pharmaceutical and biotech companies face significant challenges in both improving the flow of information throughout their organizations and turning large amounts of data into insight,” said Rüdiger Dorn, worldwide pharmaceutical industry managing director, Microsoft Corp. “Accelrys is a leader in providing tools to assist organizations in the drug discovery and development process, and we’re pleased that the company chose to deploy its scientific business intelligence platform solutions on Microsoft’s widely supported, familiar and easy-to-use platform.”

Initially the SharePoint Server integration will allow Accelrys scientific applications to be executed and displayed from the SharePoint environment through SciTegic Enterprise Server 7.0, the Accelrys scientific business intelligence platform. Accelrys will be demonstrating its scientific capabilities integrated with SharePoint in the Microsoft booth at the upcoming BioIT World Conference, April 28 – 30, 2008, in Boston.
