Agilent Technologies Introduces Low-Gas Alarm for GC, Color-Coded Syringes Designed to Reduce Downtime and Improve Efficiency in Analytical Workflows
CHICAGO–Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A – News) today introduced accessories designed to reduce unscheduled downtime and inefficiency in typical analytical workflows resulting from running out of carrier gas for gas chromatography (GC) or time lost searching for the correct size syringe.
Agilent’s new Low-Gas Alarm gas-management system is a simple, safe, reliable and economical device that alerts the GC operator before a gas cylinder becomes empty and shuts the instrument down. In addition to causing unscheduled downtime, an empty gas cylinder can also destroy the column and cause loss of sample (and associated sample prep time) and additional maintenance.
The system provides both audible and visual alerts to a low-gas condition before the instrument runs out of gas, at a user-defined pressure set-point.
Agilent general-purpose laboratory syringes also make their debut here at Pittcon 2009. Suitable for dilution, internal standard addition, extraction sample transfer and other analytical tasks, the syringes are color-coded by volume, so operators know at a glance which syringe they are using.
Agilent offers more than 100 general-purpose syringes ranging in volume from 1ìL to 50 mL. They are packaged in a recyclable container that doubles as a syringe stand, adding convenience while making it easier to find the correct syringe.
