Analogic Corporation Receives $10 Million Order for Its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography Systems
Analogic Corporation (NASDAQ: ALOG) announced today that it has received an order from L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc., for EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT(R)) systems valued at approximately $10 million. The certified eXaminer(R) 3DX Explosives Detection System (EDS), developed in collaboration between Analogic and L-3, incorporates the EXACT subsystem. The eXaminer 3DX has an installed base of more than 800 systems throughout the world for screening checked baggage at airports. The system features advanced, multi-slice CT imaging technology and provides full 3-D images of all the contents of a bag, enabling automatic detection of explosives. This new order is expected to start shipping in December 2008 and continue through March 2009.
In March 2008, Analogic and L-3 announced an agreement awarding L-3 exclusive, worldwide rights to market and service the new eXaminer SX and eXaminer XLB (eXtra Large Bore) security imaging systems developed by Analogic for air carrier checked baggage applications. The eXaminer SX, designed to meet the range of needs required by small, mid-sized and larger airports, is currently being evaluated for certification by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Jim Green, President and CEO of Analogic, said, “We are pleased to have received this new order from L-3 Communications. Analogic and L-3 have been working together for nearly a decade to provide the TSA and airport security regulators around the world with the most advanced, CT-based imaging equipment available. We look forward to growing our relationship with L-3 with the eXaminer SX. With the eXaminer SX and the well established eXaminer 3DX, L-3 and Analogic will offer the TSA a selection of 3-D continuous-flow security imaging systems to better meet the evolving needs of aviation security.”
