Analyzer Development Center Established in Dalian

Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation (TOKYO: 8036, Hitachi High-Tech) established a development center for analyzers at Hitachi Instruments Dalian Co. Ltd., a local production subsidiary in Dalian, China. The new center is Hitachi High-Tech’s first development site outside of Japan. On June 23, 2011, Hitachi High-Tech held an opening ceremony to mark the start of operations at the development center. A number of people involved in the project

were invited to attend, including Dalian deputy mayor Mr. Qu Xiaofei.

Organizationally, the purpose of the new development center is to anticipate needs gathered from joint research with local customers, as well as from academic and industry trends, with this information then reflected in the development of new products. Once activities centered on application support and joint research to Chinese customers are underway, plans call for carrying out the development of new products for the Chinese market. The center is expected to have around 100 people (including surrounding cooperating companies) by 2013.

Economies in China and other emerging countries stalled temporarily due to the 2008 global financial crisis, but have since recovered steadily with continued growth expected. In China, analyzers are used for R&D and quality control in drug manufacturing, food products, the environment and a range of other sectors. Industries of all types across this market are continuing to develop, with analyzer demand expanding in kind. Chinese domestic manufacturers are also becoming more prominent, a trend that is making the ability to respond

promptly and accurately to local needs, along with performance and quality, issues of the highest priority.

China is expected to exhibit the most stable market growth in the world going forward. Hitachi High-Tech, in establishing a new base in this market, is building an integrated business framework encompassing marketing, development and production. Backed by this structure, Hitachi High-Tech aims to expand its analyzer business through the timely launch of competitive new products.
