Automated System for aCGH Testing Introduced at Annual ASHG Meeting
Automates the laboratory workflow from DNA to scanner
November 11, 2008, SciGene (Sunnyvale, CA) today announced at the annual meeting of the American Society for Human Genetics meeting in Philadelphia, PA the introduction of a system that automates the workflow used for aCGH-based testing in cytogenetics laboratories. The new system reduces processing errors and improves the reliability of patient test results.
Laboratory methods for performing aCGH-based tests are tedious, complex and time consuming, often leading to poor patient test results. SciGene improves the reliability of aCGH-based tests by automating the entire sample handling workflow from DNA to scanner with three specialized instruments.
Starting with patient DNA, the ArrayPrep™ Target Preparation System, Mai Tai® Hybridization System and Little Dipper® Processor perform all the sample processing steps from labeling to post-hybridization microarray processing to produce arrays ready for scanning. The instruments standardize the workflow, reduce technician hands-on time and produce consistently reliable data. The instruments can be used separately or in combination to improve the laboratory workflow. Used together, they provide a powerful platform for automating aCGH-based diagnostic tests.
