Founded in 1999,and with the vision of using genomics to benefit mankind,BGI has since become the largest genomic organization in the world. With the rapid development of genetic testing, BGI,  the industry pioneer, is willing to work together with innovators around the world to unlock the power of genome,by building an open biological research, transformation and application platform.
Under these circumstances, MGI and Miracle Light Incubator launched the BGI Accelerator which provides seed funding, mentoring service, lab hours, equipment and other necessary resources for 5 selected startups in the field of life science. After the 6-month accelerating, we will help graduates build possible business alliance with 13 BGI business groups and for a further fundraising.

MENTOR TEAM
Jiangnan(John)Cai  Director, Center of Health Management and Policy, CEIBS
Professor Jiangnan Cai has been working on health economics and policy for 20 years in university, consulting firm and government agency. In addition, he participated in the design, implement and evaluation of the first comprehensive Health Care Reform Plan in the U.S. and working actively in the design of China’s National Health Care Reform Plan.
Yuwen Liu  Founding Partner of BOHE Angel Fund
Ms. Yuwen Liu has rich experience on investing and incubating biomedical startups. She found the first angel fund focusing on healthcare technology-driven startups in China. Before she set up this fund, she was hired by BioBAY, BioVENTURE Fund and biopharmaceutical companies as manager.
Fanzhi Huang  Managing partner of Share Capital health fund
Mr. Fanzhi Huang has extensive experience in corporate management. He was formerly employed as the financial controller of Philips Consumer Communications, and the CFO of Wal-Mart China. He has 9 years’ experience in investing, and invested in more than 40 projects, 4 of them finished IPO process and a number of projects were listed on the new three board.
Hui Jiang   Vice president of MGI
Hui Jiang , PhD of biology from Copenhagen University, is the vice presidents of MGI and BGI research, a member of National Technical Committee 387 on Biochemistry Products and Testing Technology of Standardization Administration of China, and a representative of Yantian district people’s congress.
Jian Liu  Vice president of MGI
Mr. Jian Liu has the project management professional (PMP) certification. He has extensive experience on the design and development of medical equipment. Now he is in charge of the R&D of BGI sequencing platform.
Yong Hou   Vice president of BGI Research
Yong Hou, PhD of Bioinformatics from Copenhagen University, is the vice presidents of BGI research. He has been awarded as the senior research fellow by Chinese government, and is the editor of Clinical and Translational Medicine.

WHO WE WANT
1)Startups or projects focusing on life science
2)Startups established in 2 years or mature projects which are planning to be incorporated during the 6-month accelerating period
3)The main product or core technology has certain needs on gene-sequencing technique
4)Prototypes are required for hardware projects; Test data is required for application projects
5)Core members are required to participate in mentor meetings, master-classes and other events in Shenzhen during the 6-month accelerating period
6)A reasonable percentage of company share would be exchanged for the accelerating service
7)BGI Accelerator has higher priority on investing startups on the next round of fundraising, under the equal valuations and terms
8)There is no property dispute on products, technologies and patents
