Bio-Rad Expands Precision Oncology Research Portfolio for Advanced Molecular Analysis Workflows

Expanded Portfolio Includes New Droplet Digital™ PCR Assays, Reagents and Technologies to Support Oncology Research Applications and Extend the Capabilities of the QX700™ ddPCR™ Systems

HERCULES, Calif.—Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIO.B), a global leader in life science research and clinical diagnostics products, today announced the expansion of its precision oncology research portfolio. The new assays available for use with the QX700™ ddPCR™ systems provide researchers with additional tools designed to support mutation detection research, liquid biopsy workflows, tumor-informed assay development, molecular residual disease (MRD) research, and multiplex biomarker analysis.

QX700 Oncology Assays
Expanding the oncology assay menu available for the QX700 systems, Bio-Rad has launched the QX700 ddPCR EGFR Exon 19 Deletions Screening Kit and QX700 ddPCR KRAS G12/G13 Screening Kit. The new assays optimized for use with the QX700 systems are intended to support research involving EGFR and KRAS mutations across multiple solid tumor research applications.

Dark Probe Mutation Detection Assays
Fully compatible across Bio-Rad’s family of QX systems, Dark Probe Mutation Detection Assays are additional tools that can help advance translational research in oncology applications, especially for liquid biopsy mutation detection and monitoring in liquid, MRD, liquid biopsy and translational research workflows. Designed to replace the wild-type fluorescent probe in existing ddPCR workflows, quencher-only dark probes suppress wild-type background and free a detection channel allowing up to four mutation targets to be analyzed in a single well, increasing multiplexing capabilities and reducing demand for sample volume.

CrystalTag Technology
Thirteen oncology focused ddPLEXCrystalTag ddPCR Assays and CrystalTag Reporters will be available soon. Bio-Rad’s CrystalTag technology separates target recognition from signal generation, enabling flexible assay design and multiplexed detection of up to 21 targets in a single reaction well on the QX700 platform, and supporting efficient development of custom research workflows. These new solutions, including assays for mutation detection of the ESR1 mutation, KRAS mutations, and HPV, enable high-plex ddPCR research across translational research, biomarker discovery, biopharmaceutical research, and advanced multiplex assay development.

“With this expanded menu of QX700 ddPCR assays and technologies, researchers can design more powerful multiplex assays and analyze biomarkers with highly sensitive, absolute quantification, all in scalable, streamlined workflows,” said Steve Kulisch, Vice President Product Management, Digital Biology Group, Bio-Rad Laboratories. “Together with our continued investment in CrystalTag technology, this launch underscores Bio-Rad’s commitment to advancing oncology research.”

Bio-Rad will showcase its new precision oncology research portfolio at the 2026 Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Meeting and Expo and the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS):

Visit Bio-Rad at AMP 2026
Bio-Rad will host thought-leaders at its corporate workshop at AMP, focusing on the use of personalized, tumor-informed ddPCR assays for MRD detection and monitoring across both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Hosted by Prithwish Pal, Ph.D., Director, Global Product Marketing, Oncology at Bio-Rad, the workshop will include presentations from three speakers: Christopher Hourigan, DM, DPhil, FRCP (Virginia Tech, United States), Laura Dillon, Ph.D., FACMG (Research Associate Professor, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech), William A. LaFramboise, Ph.D. (Professor & Chief Genomics Technology Officer, Allegheny Cancer Institute). Discussions will include the clinical need for highly sensitive MRD approaches, the development of whole-genome sequencing (WGS)-informed assays, and emerging clinical evidence supporting personalized monitoring strategies.
•Date: Wednesday, November 11, 2026
•Time: 08:00–08:50 PST
•Location: Tahoma 3, Level 3, Arch at 800 Pike

Visit Bio-Rad at SABCS 2026
Bio-Rad will also bring together leaders in translational research and precision oncology implementation to discuss the use of ddPCR technology for ESR1 mutation analysis in research samples at SABCS. Speakers, including Isaac Garcia-Murillas (Senior Staff Scientist, The Institute of Cancer Research | Head of Molecular Research, Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden Hospital), Gary Pestano, Ph.D., (Chief Scientific Officer and the Head of R&D at Biodesix), and Prithwish Pal, Ph.D., (Director, Global Product Marketing, Oncology at Bio-Rad) will share their experience with ddPCR-based workflows, including considerations for assay setup, operational efficiency, and reporting practices. The session will also explore analytical performance considerations for ddPCR technology including analytical sensitivity, turnaround time, workflow simplicity, and cost considerations compared with conventional qPCR and broader genomic profiling approaches in targeted longitudinal research settings.
