Bio-Rad Launches EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit for Detection of Salmonella spp. in Food and Environmental Samples

Kit Approved by AOAC International and certified NF VALIDATION by AFNOR Certification

HERCULES, Calif. — Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIO.B), a global leader in life science research and clinical diagnostics products, today announced the launch of EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit, a rapid qualitative test for detection of Salmonella spp. in a variety of food and environmental samples. The test has been validated by AOAC International (under the AOAC Research Institute Performance Tested Method Program) and certified NF VALIDATION by AFNOR Certification.

Bio-Rad’s ready-to-use EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit uses PCR to deliver streamlined workflows with rapid time to results, featuring multiplex amplification of the target pathogen and an internal control to prevent false negatives, while the duplex detection system enhances accuracy and simplifies reaction set up.

The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit has been validated by both international certification organizations on parameters such as robustness, product consistency, stability, inclusivity and exclusivity, and matrix studies. In addition, Bio-Rad’s iQ-Check Free DNA Removal Solution was validated as part of the workflow for testing all matrices included in the validation scope.

Detection of Salmonella remains a critical priority for food manufacturers as contamination can lead to severe health risks and costly product recalls. The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit enables food producers to enhance quality control processes, minimizing the risk of outbreaks while ensuring compliance with global food safety standards.

“The increase in reported Salmonella-related infections in recent years has led to a greater demand for robust, accurate testing solutions to prevent outbreaks and protect consumers. Our portfolio of EZ-Check real-time PCR tests provide a simple workflow for food pathogen testing, delivering reliable results with improved operational and cost efficiency,” said Franck Edouard, Senior Marketing Director, Food Science Division, Bio-Rad Laboratories. “The new Salmonella EZ-Check Kit, with international recognition, solidifies our position as leaders in the food safety industry, providing validated technologies for detection of pathogens in food and environmental products.”
