Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies Hires Larry Masur as Vice President of Business Development for North America

BILLERICA, Mass. – Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies, Inc. (BEST), a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced superconducting materials and devices, announced today the appointment of Larry Masur as Vice President of Business Development, North America. Dr. Masur will be based in Billerica and responsible for business development activities in North America, as well as supporting business development initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.

For the past three and a half years, Dr. Masur was VP of Business Development at Zenergy Power Inc. Prior to that, he was at American Superconductor Corporation for over 19 years, serving in a variety of management positions in both technical and business development capacities. Dr. Masur received a Ph.D. in materials engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a masters degree in metallurgy from MIT, and a bachelor of science degree in physics from the University of Connecticut.

“We are delighted that Larry has decided to join us as a senior manager in what promises to be a key business function for BEST,” stated Tom Rosa, BEST Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “We previously had worked together for many years, and Larry brings to BEST a wealth of superconductor materials and device experience, as well as in-depth knowledge of the industry and customers. His background and experience present a perfect fit for our business, and we are looking forward to Larry driving our growth in North America. In the last two years, BEST has already grown its global revenues from $44 million in 2008 to over $90 million in 2010. We expect that Larry will contribute strongly to our growth trajectory in markets for BEST’s diverse core superconductivity technology platforms that include healthcare, ‘big science’ infrastructure, industrial devices, as well as superconducting tools for alternative energy and the smart grid.”

Dr. Burkhard Prause, President and CEO of BEST, added: “I am personally very pleased to have Larry join our team, as I have known him for years as one of the most knowledgeable persons in the superconductivity industry. Larry is ideally suited to drive our growth in North America and support our expansion in Asia Pacific. Larry also is an important addition to our business development team and I believe he will be a very good fit with our business culture and approach to growth.”

Dr. Larry Masur commented: “I am delighted to join BEST and look forward to playing an important role in developing our sales channels, identifying new markets for BEST’s existing line of low temperature superconductor wire and device products, and commercializing the new products that BEST is developing, particularly crystal growth magnets (CGMs) and superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs). I intend to help drive the continued growth and success of the business.”
