CELLvo™ Matrix Plus is a novel extracellular matrix derived from human cells that improves relevancy of cell culture studies
The new cell culture substrate from StemBioSys supports isolation and culture of various cell types, including pluripotent cells.
SAN ANTONIO, TX, March 24, 2020 – CELLvo™ Matrix Plus, a new extracellular matrix product from StemBioSys, Inc., represents a paradigm shift in cell culture studies by recreating the biologically relevant microenvironment to which cells are accustomed. Unlike other commercially available extracellular matrices, CELLvo™ Matrix Plus is derived from human stem cells. This cell growth substrate is composed of more than 100 proteins secreted and assembled by human perinatal stem cells. The final decellularized product is available in multiple formats and only requires a brief rehydration step prior to use. In recent in-house studies, this novel extracellular matrix has been observed to enhance isolation, growth and differentiation of pluripotent cells as well as other adherent cell types. CELLvo™ Matrix Plus essentially mimics a cell’s natural environment by providing a native niche to which cells naturally home and adhere.
“CELLvo™ Matrix Plus is the newest extracellular matrix based on our unique CELLvo™ Matrix technology, a platform technology from which we’ve developed a variety of cell culture products including human cells for use by the biomedical research community,” says, Bob Hutchens, StemBioSys President and CEO. “We continue to enthusiastically invite scientists to exchange ideas and share new approaches,” he added.
CELLvo™ Matrix Plus is available in ready-to-use 6-well and 96-well plates, or 75 cmor 150 cmvented tissue culture flasks. Following rehydration, cells are cultured directly onto the dish containing the matrix proteins without any changes to normal workflow. CELLvo™ Matrix Plus is optically clear; cells grow in a monolayer allowing for beautiful brightfield imaging. Staining the cells for fluorescence imaging is also possible.
