Cemtrex Mercury Monitor Passes the RATA Test
FARMINGDALE, N.Y., July 22 — Cemtrex Inc. (OTC: CTEI – News) announced today that its SM-4 Mercury Monitor passed a full suite of RATA (Relative Accuracy Test Audit) tests. The RATA involved extensive tests for calibration accuracies, linearity, repeatability, response time, conformance to PS-12A (initial certification tests), and complete 40 CFR 75 regulations applicable to Mercury CEMS.
The SM-4 is the most advanced mercury monitor in the market today that can measure both elemental and ionic mercury. It operates on the dry thermo-catalytic/CVAAS principle and has no consumables. It fully conforms to EPA Part 75 regulations and has been successfully tested at multiple Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) test sites and more than 60 cement plants worldwide.
“By passing these RATA tests, the SM-4 ensures that any coal-fired plant will meet the upcoming Mercury MACT rule. With several Cemtrex SM-4’s installed at chlorine plants that were required to report under existing Mercury MACT rules, we believe with our extensive experience in mercury monitoring for compliance reporting and process control the SM-4 is a great tool for coal plants,” said Ravi Narayan, Vice President of Cemtrex’s MIP division.
Currently the EPA is in the process of establishing a baseline for mercury footprints from coal-burning sources and requires stack emission data to be published within this year. But several states continued with their state-level mercury control programs independent of CAMR and are installing Cemtrex mercury monitors in their stacks and also using Cemtrex monitors to evaluate their mercury control systems and technologies.
Cemtrex Inc. is a worldwide market leader in manufacturing and selling the most advanced instruments for emission monitoring of particulate, opacity, mercury, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, etc. and filtration products for the industry. Cemtrex also markets Green DCV, a innovative energy efficiency solution for high-quality green building applications, through optimizing HVAC control systems. Cemtrex provides technologies and services for abatement of greenhouse gases pursuant to the Kyoto Protocol and assists customers in creating and selling carbon credits from such projects. The Company’s products are sold to power plants, refineries, chemical plants, cement plants and other industries, including federal and state governmental agencies.
