Centice Corporation Announces Beta Program for Portable Raman Spectroscopy Platform

MORRISVILLE, NC – Centice Corporation, a pioneer in chemical verification and identification using Raman spectroscopy and computational sensor technology, announced today the start of a Beta Program with Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, located in Canton, GA, north of Atlanta, to identify controlled substances and prescription drugs in the field. The field agents will be carrying a battery operated field portable instrument designed and developed by Centice Corporation to accurately identify drugs they encounter in their raids.

Centice Corporation currently sells two industry leading products, PASS Rx® and PINPOINT Rx™, for prescription drug verification in pharmacies and drug identification in hospitals, respectively. The underlying technology is a collection of patented hardware components with a software architecture that allows rapid and accurate verification and identification of materials. The platform also contains a database of over 3,000 unique drug spectra to allow drug chemical identification in less than 10 seconds.

“Extending our technology to the most challenging law enforcement applications is a natural fit.” said Centice Corporation CTO, Prasant Potuluri, PhD. “We are very excited to see the potential of our device to transform how law enforcement manages the increasing workload at crime scenes.”

“Centice’s device is exactly what our agents need. Identifying drugs can take time and not knowing the exact substances found during investigation can derail proper procedure” said CMANS Commander Phillip Price. “We have used Centice’s technology and it works for us.”
