City University of New York Partners with Genestack to Enhance AI readiness of Life Science Data in the Bioconductor Program
Cambridge, UK — CUNY (City University of New York) and Genestack Ltd are pleased to announce their collaboration aimed at streamlining data curation for the BioConductor program. This innovative partnership brings together the expertise of CUNY in biomedical research and Genestack’s advanced data management platform, offering significant benefits to researchers in the field.
The BioConductor program, a widely used open-source software project, provides tools for the analysis and comprehension of high-throughput genomic data. However, the process of curating and managing such data can be time-consuming and complex. This collaboration between CUNY and Genestack aims to address these challenges and enhance the efficiency of data curation for BioConductor users.
Genestack’s powerful data management platform offers a range of capabilities that will greatly simplify the data curation process. Researchers will be able to easily upload, organize, and annotate their genomic data, reducing the time and effort required for data management and analysis. The platform also provides robust data security and privacy features, ensuring the protection of sensitive information.
“Our project aims to enhance the AI/ML readiness of publicly accessible omics data, with a particular emphasis on enhancing metadata quality. Led by the team at the City University of New York, we are closely collaborating with Bioconductor and multiple institutions, including the University of Colorado, the University of Trento, and Northeastern University.” Sehyun Oh, Assistant Professor at City University of New York explained.
“We chose ODM as our primary metadata curation tool for several reasons. First, defining and maintaining the data schema is highly intuitive. We also appreciate ODM’s seamless integration of ontologies. The ODM team has consistently been receptive to our feedback, demonstrating their commitment to customer satisfaction. Convenient features like bulk replacement, displaying definition, and validation summary, are valuable for our curation workflow. With ODM’s continued refinement and incorporation of user feedback, we are confident that it will evolve into an even more powerful solution for our metadata management needs.”
By integrating Genestack’s platform with the BioConductor program, CUNY and Genestack aim to provide curators at five prestigious global universities with a seamless experience in data curation. This integration will enable these curators to directly access and utilize Genestack’s advanced data management tools to empower public data curation in support of the BioConductor program, eliminating the need for manual data transfer and reducing potential errors.
“We’re delighted to be working with CUNY and Bioconductor to bring well curated public data sets to the community in readiness for the paradigm shift that is AI/ML/LLMs.”, Leo Whyte, Head of Customer Growth at Genestack explained, “This partnership will not only drive better quality AI models but also introduce the next generation of scientists to what high quality data curation looks like and how easy it can actually be.”
One of the key benefits of this collaboration is the improvement in data quality and reproducibility. With Genestack’s platform, researchers can ensure the consistency and integrity of their data, facilitating more accurate analysis and interpretation of results. This will ultimately contribute to the advancement of biomedical research and the development of new treatments and therapies.
Furthermore, this collaboration will foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among researchers. The streamlined data curation process will enable researchers to easily share their curated datasets with colleagues, accelerating scientific discovery and innovation.
Both CUNY and Genestack are committed to supporting the BioConductor community and empowering researchers with efficient and reliable data management and curation solutions. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the usability and effectiveness of the BioConductor program.
