Corning Announces 2012 Recipients of its “Color the Community Orange”

CORNING, N.Y., — Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced the recipients of its 2012 “Color the Community Orange” program. The annual program grants laboratory supplies to local area high schools where Corning Life Sciences employees work or live. This year, five schools each received about $4,000 worth of laboratory products.

Each school is also eligible to schedule a Corning scientist for a classroom visit to demonstrate the products and discuss science.

“The ‘Color the Community Orange’ program has always allowed us to reinvest in the community by providing high school science teaching programs with the tools they need,” said Richard Darcangelo, business director, Corning Laboratory Products, Corning Life Sciences. “This program reflects our commitment to the communities and high schools where our children get their start on becoming the next generation of scientists.”

Schools are selected for the grants through a nomination and application process. The 2012 grant recipients are:

• Kennebunk High School, Kennebunk, Maine.

• Meskwaki Settlement School, Tama, Iowa

• Methuen High School, Methuen, Mass.

• Odessa-Montour High School, Odessa, N.Y.

• Strath Haven High School, Wallingford, Pa.

The grant program started in 2001 as “The Partners in Community Program” and has evolved into “Color the Community Orange” in reference to the orange caps used on products made by Corning Life Sciences. In all, more than 50 schools have received laboratory products worth more than $160,000.
