David Sauvageau Appointed VP Engineering & Product Development

Paul Dempsey Appointed VP BioEngineering Research & Development

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.–Cynvenio Biosystems, Inc., a developer of high performance cell-sorting technology for biomedical research, today announced it has added two key executives to its management team to support the Company’s growth plans in rare cell isolation and manipulation.

David J. Sauvageau is appointed to the position of Vice President, Engineering & Product Development, and Dr. Paul W. Dempsey is appointed to the position of Vice President, BioEngineering, Research & Development. Both are new to the company.

“We are very pleased to have Dave and Paul on our team,” said André de Fusco, Cynvenio’s president and chief executive officer. “Dave brings extensive hands-on engineering and production experience to Cynvenio and he will lead our platform and consumables development. Paul will lead our fast-growing bioengineering efforts with a special emphasis on circulating tumor cell and stem cell assay development. He will also manage Cynvenio’s new labs in Westlake Village and Los Angeles, California.

David J. Sauvageau – Vice President, Engineering and Product Development

David Sauvageau has 25 years of engineering and medical device research, development and manufacturing experience. Prior to joining Cynvenio, David held VP of R&D positions with Boston Scientific Corporation and Medtronic as well as engineering positions within Smith & Nephew and Texas Instruments. He has developed and commercialized products with applications in cardiovascular, gynecology, arthroscopy, endoscopy, oncology and urology and has technical expertise in biomaterials, mechanism design, metal fabrication and mold processing, and he holds 18 patents and 2 publications to his name. David received a M.S. in Technology and Innovation from Boston University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Central New England College.

Paul W. Dempsey, Ph.D. – Vice President, BioEngineering, Research & Development

Paul Dempsey is an Immunologist with 20 years experience in biomedical research and analysis. Before joining Cynvenio, Paul was an Assistant Researcher Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He brings extensive hands-on research experience in life sciences, molecular biology and reagent development. Paul received a B.S. in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Warwick in Coventry, UK and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. He was a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fellow from 2000 to 2003, has published 20 scientific articles and abstracts, and holds 2 issued patents in technologies designed to amplify the immunogenicity of vaccines.
