Cytiva chemistry for extraction-free detection of RNA through direct, one-step RT-qPCR.
NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Cytiva anti-inhibitor chemistry (AIC) coupled with our stabilized RT-qPCR master mix* enables robust extraction-free chemistry optimized for one-step RT-qPCR for detection of RNA (including SARS-Cov-2) directly from samples.
Nucleic acid testing (NAT) is one of the fastest-growing segments of the molecular diagnostics market. In NAT, nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) is preferred over traditional culture techniques due to its higher sensitivity and speed. It is widely used in routine tests in clinical settings for examining pathogens of interest and other genetic disorders. The provision of next generation nucleic acid amplification test kits to address the infectious disease, metagenomics and applied testing market is gaining importance due to:
- The emergence of genomics as a major informer of disease diagnosis and therapy.
- The ever increasing virulent and multi-drug resistant agents responsible for complex infectious diseases.
When high throughput testing is required and bottlenecks need to be reduced, the ability to lyse the sample with an anti-inhibitor chemistry and then add an aliquot of the lysate directly to a one-step RT-qPCR master mix is highly desirable. It means the RNA purification step is not needed, providing a simpler protocol which reduces time and complexity. This is a real advantage, especially for population screening (e.g. frequent testing of healthcare personnel), where repeated, cheaper, and faster result is desired.
Available as a lyophilized cake in plate or vial format and suitable for use with a range of sample types including swabs, cells, blood and body fluids, the Cytiva RT-qPCR Kit used in combination with the AIC mix provides:
- Increased tolerance (up to 45% of universal transport media)
- Increased RNA stability in the sample
- Detection of SARS-CoV-2 viral particles down to approximately 10 copies per reaction
