deltaDOT launches a one hour baculovirus titer system: deltaTITER

Accurate baculovirus quantification in less than an hour

London, UK, 15th September 2008… deltaDOT Ltd, a developer of highly innovative enabling technologies and products for bioscience research, has announced the launch of deltaTITER, a novel one hour baculovirus titration system. deltaTITER enables researchers to accurately quantify the amount of baculovirus in a sample in just one hour. deltaDOT will introduce deltaTITER at the Baculovirus Technology conference, September 17-18, Boston, USA.

The deltaTITER one hour kit, instrument and software solution, offers a significant 5 day time-saving, as well as accuracy benefits, over using the more traditional method of plaque assay, which takes up skilled personnel time and often gives variable results. Measurement of baculovirus titer is a crucially important workflow component for protein expression, both in research and production laboratories.

The deltaTITER method is kit-based, automated for significant walk-away time, and easy to use. Unlike other methods deltaTITER does not require a skilled operator. The system is based on a proprietary buffer system, and has been designed to be used with deltaDOT’s state-of-the art HPCE tool, the Peregrine. The new system shows excellent reproducibility, with 6% relative standard deviation. In R&D, QA/QC, scale-up, and production phases, deltaTITER will drastically reduce cycle times.

“The new deltaTITER kit, used in combination with the Peregrine system, has the potential to dramatically speed up the process of generating proteins using the baculovirus expression system” commented Dr David McMillan, Senior Group Leader, Protein Production, UCB. “Initial experiments look very promising and we look forward to eliminating the need for plaque assays altogether.”
