Esaote inaugurates new site in Genoa for MRI research and production
Another milestone in the process of renewal and development of the Italian group, a world leader in biomedical electronics.
Genoa – Esaote S.p.A. (www.esaote.com) opened a new plant for the company’s research and production of dedicated MRI systems in Genoa Multedo today, Wednesday, April 12.
Prominent figures who attended and spoke at the opening included Giovanni Toti, President of the Region of Liguria, Marco Doria, Mayor of Genoa, and His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa. Speakers included Enzo Silvestri, President of the Radiology Division at MSK Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM), and Roberto Grassi, President Elect of the Italian Medical Radiology Society (SIRM).
The new plant – which measures more than 7 thousand square metres of indoor space – produces dedicated magnetic resonance systems and contains the Group’s MRI research and development laboratories, ultrasound diagnostic systems repair centre and parts centre for equipment of all kinds.
The total investment of more than 15 million euros in the centre includes 10 million for the construction of the new building and 5 million for the construction and purchase of modern equipment and advanced production systems with the goal of optimising the manufacturing process with a view to improving efficiency, safety and product quality on the basis of the canons of “World Class Manufacturing”.
The Multedo centre is the third new facility Esaote has opened in the past 12 months, after moving its General Management, ultrasound R&D laboratories and medical information technology facilities to the Scientific and Technological Campus in Genoa Erzelli in 2016 and unveiling its new Centre of Excellence for Probes and Transducers and world-class logistics hub in Florence a few weeks ago.
“These three milestones are much more than a mere renewal or relocation of our plants, buildings and offices; they are the tangible sign of the profound changes Esaote has been making in recent years,” commented Esaote S.p.A. President Paolo Monferino. “This process of attitude change is affecting our sites, processes and business and organisation models, with the goal of making our Group more innovative and reactive, more focused on excellence and on sustainability. This great renewal project has been accompanied by major investment in R&D, allowing us to start launching new products on the market last year, and we will continue to do so in 2017 and every year in the future.”
The Esaote Group, recognised as one of the top 10 diagnostic imaging companies in the world by authoritative studies, has today confirmed its desire to relaunch and consolidate its own presence in all over Italy and on a global level.
