FOSS Group Acquires Stake in Danish Robotics Startup Graspian
The FOSS Group has announced an investment in the Danish robotics startup Graspian, acquiring a 30% ownership stake in the company.
Graspian specializes in the development of advanced optical sensors for robots, enabling enhanced precision and force in automation systems.
This is FOSS Group’s third investment in companies focused on optical technologies, following previous investments in SPIO Systems and Ibsen Photonics. As the global market leader in food analysis, FOSS places innovation and knowledge at the core of its values. Beyond its core business, FOSS supports companies with strong technological capabilities in optics.
“We are delighted to welcome Graspian into the FOSS group. This investment strengthens our position within the optical domain, which we believe will be foundational for future products across industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, agriculture – and within FOSS’ own analytical solutions,” said Kim Vejlby Hansen, CEO of FOSS.
Founded in 2020 by Christian Bjerrum-Niese, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, and Sepideh Naserbakht, Ph.D. in Physics, Graspian received its initial funding round in 2021 from a group of private investors. The company is headquartered in Farum, Denmark.
“We are deeply grateful for the trust FOSS Group has placed in us through this investment. Their support not only strengthens our financial foundation but also provides access to invaluable expertise and resources in optical technologies. This partnership will accelerate our development of cutting-edge optical sensors for robotics and automation, and we look forward to exploring new opportunities that will benefit the industry,” said Anders S. Frandsen, CEO of Graspian.
As part of the agreement, Kim Vejlby Hansen will join Graspian’s Board of Directors.
