GE Appoints Three New Company Officers

FAIRFIELD, Conn.–28 June 2011– GE today announces the appointment of three new company officers. GE currently has 194 GE officers globally who lead large revenue generating businesses or are in critical functional roles, helping to drive growth.

Below are the details of GE’s new company officers:

Gary D. Mercer, 52, has been named Vice President and Chief Engineer for GE Aviation. Mercer will provide leadership for flight safety and airworthiness, serving as the key interface with our external customers that govern flight safety and certification processes. His role also includes providing guidance, mentoring and intervention as necessary to strengthen quality, rigor and the engineering discipline. Mercer will also validate the readiness of new technologies and tools as they are applied to our new product development programs.

Mercer has been with GE for 26 years. He began his career with Aviation as a Design Engineer for Military and Commercial Structures before moving to GE Energy where he held several key leadership positions including Senior General Manager Engineering for Oil & Gas and Renewables before rejoining the Aviation business in 2011.

Mercer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of New York.

Micaela Niven Bulich, 47, has been appointed Vice President of Sourcing, GE Energy.

Bulich has operations expertise with 25 years of experience in Sourcing, Manufacturing and Quality. She has been with GE for 12 years and prior to her current role, was General Manager for Quality and Regulatory Compliance at GE Energy. There she formed a strong business-wide quality team focused on improving customer quality based on the creation of a common Quality Management System across GE Energy.

Before joining GE Energy in February 2009, Bulich held a variety of leadership roles in the prior GE Plastics business including Manufacturing, Sourcing and Quality leader in addition to heading the Global Supply Chain operation.

Bulich received her Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Hartford and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Geoffrey Culbert, 42, is Vice President and General Counsel, GE Global Growth & Operations. In this role, Culbert is responsible for growth in GE’s global markets, with a focus on driving localization initiatives in Legal and Compliance and partnering with the businesses to help them win in local markets.

Culbert started his GE career in 2002 with GE Capital Australia. Over the past four years he was the General Counsel for GE Capital Asia Pacific where he led a team of 60 lawyers supporting the business as it entered new markets and grew across the region.

Prior to GE, Culbert worked as a private practice lawyer in Melbourne, London and Tokyo specializing in cross-border projects and structured finance.

Culbert earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and an Honors Degree in Law from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
