Boekel Scientific introduces their new Gen2 Refrigerated Incubator for BOD testing, microbiologic work, and plant and animal incubation. The Gen2 Refrigerated Incubator is part of a new line of advanced laboratory incubators designed and manufactured in the U.S.A with intuitive and flexible touch screen control systems. The system can accurately control temperatures at 20⁰C below ambient temperature using thermoelectric cooling, also known as Peltier cooling. This solid-state cooling method requires no refrigerant or compressor, increasing the efficiency and reliability of the unit. The system is heated using resistive heating to ensure uniform temperature within the chamber up to 60⁰C. The interior is constructed of a single piece of durable thermoformed plastic for cleanability. The system is supplied with a stainless-steel humidity pan and stainless-steel shelves that can withstand the weight of over 86 BOD bottles for Biochemical Oxygen Demand testing. The unit is considered a medium to large size incubator with approximately 4 cubic feet of space in the interior chamber. The unit has an easily viewable, bright color touch screen that displays alarms, current temperature, set temperature and the humidity level. The user can easily control and define temperature programs, alarm setpoints, and control the internal power outlet based on time. The internal power outlet can be used for shaking equipment, lights, meters, or any other laboratory devices. The user interface was carefully designed to be intuitive and easily readable. The display can show temperature and humidity graphs and this data can be downloaded to a USB drive or through an Ethernet connection. The incubator is ideal for standard microbial work or low temperature work such as BOD testing, drosophila, and extremophile bacteria culture because of the high efficiency thermoelectric cooling.
