Global provider of BioPharma enterprise software, IDBS, expands its operations in the Korean market

Woking, UK — IDBS, a provider of global enterprise software for scientific research, discovery, development and manufacturing, announces the hire of an experienced business leader to expand and support customers for IDBS Polar and PIMS in South Korea.

The South Korean pharmaceuticals market is an important contributor to the country’s GDP. Revenue is projected to reach US $13.18bn in 2024, with a CAGR of 6.85% from 2024 – 2028 [1]. Government spending on R&D is focused on new medicines and biosimilars to drive growth [2]. Like many pharmaceutical companies, Korean pharma companies are actively pursuing digital initiatives to speed their time to market or increase the quality and efficiency of their contract service offerings. IDBS is bringing its 30+ years of experience collaborating with top global BioPharma companies into this growing market, to help companies digitize their R&D and manufacturing processes, improve productivity and speed drug development and manufacturing.

IDBS Polar is a flexible and scalable cloud solution that compliantly captures product and process execution data across the product lifecycle.  This creates a complete data foundation for applying IDBS- or customer-specified AI/ML & advanced analytics tools. By having the data they need, BioPharma companies can focus on solving challenges in process design, optimization, scale-up and technology transfer, ultimately delivering drugs to market faster.

IDBS’ PIMS solution aggregates information from various data silos such as MES, LIMS, Historian, Supply Chain, Automation and Lab Testing into a single, process-centric view to help business leaders improve manufacturing process control, support investigations and regulatory audits and reduce batch failure.

To increase its customer support and market presence in Korea, IDBS has appointed Paul Oh Sung-il as Regional Manager. Oh Sung-il joined IDBS from Sangfor Technology, where he worked as the Korean branch manager for 3 years. Additionally, he has 15 years of experience in marketing and business development through roles held at AIFRICA, Moody’s Analytics, Dassault Systèmes and Altibase.

Dave Watrous, VP – Sales, Customer Success and Marketing said: “There is phenomenal momentum in the Korean BioPharma industry, and we are excited to be increasing our investment and presence in Korea to further build collaborative partnerships with customers in this dynamic market.”
