Harvard Apparatus Acquires CMA Microdialysis Research

Effective July 1, 2011, Harvard Apparatus acquired CMA Microdialysis Research Products. These products will be distributed in the US exclusively by Harvard Apparatus, a division of Harvard Bioscience, Inc. Current CMA international distribution channels will remain intact.

CMA is a manufacturer of microdialysis products. Founded in 1984, the company pioneered the microdialysis technique for in vivo sampling and monitoring of the chemistry of organs and tissues.

This acquisition is complementary to the current Harvard Apparatus research products for neuroscience applications. The acquisition provides Harvard Apparatus with leading microdialysis technology to add to its line of specialized tools for biological research.

The combination of these two companies strengthens Harvard Apparatus’ knowledge base, products offering and technical support in the area of neuroscience research.

Additionally, Harvard Apparatus brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in life science research to current CMA customers and distributors.

Harvard Apparatus is part of the Harvard Bioscience family of companies. Harvard Bioscience (Nasdaq: HBIO) is a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of specialized products, primarily scientific instruments.
