HORIBA, Ltd. (President: Masayuki Adachi; hereinafter “HORIBA”) announced on February 13, 2026, the establishment of HORIBA Middle East Limited in Abu Dhabi. The new company marks HORIBA’s first presence in the Middle East and will be located in Masdar City,  a pioneering sustainable urban community and clean-technology hub in Abu Dhabi.

To further accelerate business expansion in the Middle East, HORIBA has entered into an agreement dated May 29, 2026, to acquire the business operations of FANDA Scientific Equipment Trading LLC (Head Office: Dubai, UAE; hereinafter “FANDA”), which has served as a distributor of HORIBA products in the region. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.

While oil and natural gas remain central to the UAE’s industry, the investment related to decarbonization is being expanded, leading to growing demand for advanced analytical and measurement solutions in the energy and environmental sectors.

With the establishment of a local base and the acquisition, HORIBA will strengthen its local presence in the UAE and expand its portfolio of solutions, including those supporting decarbonization, marking its full-scale entry into the Middle East energy transition market.

Looking ahead, HORIBA aims to position the UAE as its regional hub for Middle East operations and accelerate expansion into neighbouring countries, with the goal of increasing regional sales from approximately JPY 1.3 billion in FY2025 to JPY 3.0 billion by 2030.

Background of the Acquisition

Although the UAE has long played a leading role in the global oil and natural gas sector, in recent years it has been accelerating the energy transition through decarbonization policies and expanded adoption of clean energy. Against this backdrop, demand for business solutions in the energy and environmental fields is expected to rise further.

HORIBA places strong emphasis on a global business approach that co-creates solutions with customers based on local needs. This acquisition is intended to accelerate that approach in the Middle East.

Previously, HORIBA has conducted business in the UAE through distributors. By acquiring FANDA’s business operations, HORIBA will leverage FANDA’s customer network, particularly among universities and research institutions, and strengthen its capabilities by integrating experienced local talent into the HORIBA Group.

HORIBA will rapidly scale up operations through its new local company and expand business opportunities in priority decarbonization-related domains.

Business Focus and Strategic Objectives

HORIBA Middle East will be located in Masdar City, a Free zone* in Abu Dhabi known for its advanced initiatives toward carbon neutrality. From this location, HORIBA will offer a broad range of analytical and measurement solutions tailored to local needs. These include solutions for oil refining process analysis, environmental applications such as air quality monitoring, and decarbonization-related research and demonstration projects, such as CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage). Through these initiatives, HORIBA will promote co-creation with local stakeholders to help advance the energy transition.

In addition, by establishing a local legal entity, HORIBA will expand opportunities to participate in academic and government-related projects and accelerate business expansion across the broader Middle East region, including neighbouring countries.
