Howard Safir Joins Implant Sciences’ Board of Directors

Former Police Commissioner and Fire Commissioner of New York City

WILMINGTON, Mass.–Implant Sciences Corporation (OTCBB:IMSC – News), a supplier of systems and sensors for the homeland security market and related industries, today announced the addition of Howard Safir to the Company’s Board of Directors.

Glenn D. Bolduc, Implant Sciences’ Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are excited to have Howard Safir join our Board. His long experience with security and law enforcement and his countless domestic and international associations will be a great advantage to Implant Sciences.”

Mr. Safir noted, “After being introduced to Implant Sciences several months ago, I conducted my own due diligence on the Company’s products. I found them to have critical technological, operational and cost advantages versus competing explosive detection products in the marketplace. As such, I’ve decided to join Implant’s Board of Directors in order to assist the Company in showcasing its security solutions to business opportunities requiring advanced detection capabilities.”

Mr. Safir, 67, is Chief Executive Officer of the Security Consulting and Investigations Unit of GlobalOptions Group, Inc., Mr. Safir has served in that position since the acquisition of Safir Rosetti, LLC, by GlobalOptions Group in May 2006. Mr. Safir served as Police Commissioner of New York City from 1996 to 2000 and as New York City’s Fire Commissioner from 1994-1996. Mr. Safir began his law enforcement career in 1965 as a special agent assigned to the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics.
