Invitrogen Launches First Complete Resource for Cellular Technologies and Education
Cell Resource Center Provides Access to the World’s Most Comprehensive Source for Cell Biology Research Tools
CARLSBAD, Calif.–Invitrogen, part of Life Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:LIFE), today announced the launch of the life-science industry’s first comprehensive online resource for cell biology information and technology. The Invitrogen Cell Resource Center is a Web portal that brings together educational resources and the latest technologies for advancing cellular research. This Web-based hub enables scientists to access the broadest range of products and scientific resources for cell biology from a single source.
The new portal was designed through customer input from more than 700 life scientists from around the world. It provides information highlighting the breadth of what can be accomplished in the laboratory with any given cell type, with information organized across technologies that support the cellular workflow. Researchers can also access information about various cell types through links to useful technical information, third-party video protocols, published research, assays, and reagents, as well as systems and devices for building workflows for their experiments.
The Cell Resource Center features a broad range of highly characterized primary cells, stem cells including embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and reprogramming technologies, along with more than 200 validated assays for basic research, drug discovery and screening. As part of the rollout of this industry resource, Invitrogen is also launching a new comprehensive line of GIBCO® rat neural cell products including neural stem cells, neurons and glial cells, marking the first cells within its industry-leading portfolio of neurobiology products.
These cells have been validated with media and reagents that include Neurobasal™ Medium, B27 supplement and StemPro® NSC SFM. Also available for the first time are cell engineering tools to allow targeted, stable integration of genetic material into the genome of pluripotent stem cells and primary cells for screening and discovery analysis.
Cynthia Klein, Sr. Lab Manager, Stem Cell & Reproductive Biology, OB/GYN School of Medicine, Stanford University
“The Invitrogen Cell Resource Center is a helpful guide to finding most everything you need in one place regarding many types of cell culture systems. It provides information about cells, in addition to the media, what type of research the cells are used for and what you need to grow them successfully.”
Nicolas Barthelemy, President, Life Technologies’ Cell Systems Division
“The Invitrogen Cell Resource Center provides the life-science community with the most comprehensive source of essential information and enabling technologies for cellular research. The creation of this unique portal, with input from more than 700 pilot customers around the world, demonstrates Invitrogen’s promise of being there for our customers to support their needs everyday through differentiated technologies and truly innovative ways of connecting with the scientific community.”
