After a successful period of four-years transition process, Azbil Telstar’s management model has been integrated in an established corporate governance structure to strengthen its future global strategic position and guarantee sustainable long-term growth
Azbil Telstar has announced the appointment of Jochen Dick, who has served the company as a Chief Operations Officer (COO) over the past two years, as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Ton Capella, who has served both as CEO and Chairman of the company to the current date, will focus on his role of Chairman of the Board. Both appointments, which are effective 1st April 2017, have been carried out to address the new growth plans of the company. To strengthen the future global strategic position of the company and to guarantee a sustainable long-term growth, the new structure will be aligned to an efficient and reputational governance model by separating executive functions and governance functions in the framework of the global management model governing the listed azbil Group.
After the acquisition process carried out by azbil Group in 2013, Telstar has been leading the Life Science Engineering business division of the Japanese corporation to provide global high-technology solutions in design, engineering and manufacturing processes with automation technologies for the international life science markets. Throughout four years of transitional process of integration, Telstar brand has consolidated its well-known reputation being acknowledged as one of the 10 major international innovative suppliers for the pharmaceutical industry, operating in over a hundred countries through its 13 subsidiaries around the world.
In the framework of the new strategic project, which will allow Azbil Telstar to evolve from an international corporation into a truly global enterprise in a more solid and efficient way, the company has taken a step forward in the operational management model implementing a separation of roles within the corporate governance structure. “We will work cooperatively to boost Azbil Telstar to the next level. The separation of the functions of chairman and CEO is a milestone on this journey, which addresses the governance need for the future of the company”, says Jochen Dick, who also affirms that “the new stage will also be intended to strengthen the integration of customer focus in the entire company, as well as the creation of value for the customer and to support them with innovative and effective solutions.”
Jochen Dick has graduated at Technical University of Munich in Electrical Engineering and as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electronics from Brunel University of London. From 1987 he worked for 27 years in a large multinational for the healthcare and medical industry. Since 2014, he is member of the Board of Directors of Azbil Europe and he is working as an advisor for Azbil Corporation in Japan, besides carrying out his position as a Chief Operations Officer (COO) and member of the Board of Directors at Azbil Telstar.
At the same time, Ton Capella, who has successfully driven the strong growth and international presence of Telstar’s brand and has lead a truly successful and meaningful transition process throughout last years, will keep his role as a Chairman of Board, in addition to providing corporate support at this new strategic phase of the company, reinforced by an integrated governance structure. “As a Chairman, I will be actively leading the company to meet the goals and challenges we have set in this new stage and to involve myself with my business knowledge for the success of Azbil Telstar”. Capella, who is Degree in Industrial Engineering from Polytechnical University of Catalonia (UPC, Spain), has been in charge of the company as a CEO since 1994.
