Kenneth Boyda Named to Ahura Scientific, Inc. Board of Directors

Former General Electric Executive Brings Wealth of Security Experience and Operational Excellence to Growing and Innovative Company

WILMINGTON, MA–May 13, 2008 — Ahura Scientific, Inc., a leader in rugged, ultra-compact handheld instruments for chemical identification, announced today that it has appointed seasoned entrepreneur and security industry veteran Kenneth Boyda to its Board of Directors. Mr. Boyda was elected by Ahura Scientific’s Board as the company seeks to bring on new members with industry-specific expertise and proven track records with successful high technology ventures.

Most recently, Boyda held the position of president and CEO of GE Security, a $2 billion global business focused on communication and information technologies for security, safety and lifestyle enhancements. GE Security was initially formed through General Electric’s acquisition in 2002 of Interlogix, Inc., where Boyda served as president, CEO, and director.

During his tenure with Interlogix, Inc. and predecessor company SLC Technologies, Inc., Boyda defined and led the formation of today’s GE Security business by orchestrating the merger and acquisition of more than 40 companies over a period of 15 years. This tremendous undertaking created what is now a multi-billion dollar wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric Company (NYSE:GE – News).

“We welcome Ken’s extensive security industry experience and entrepreneurial vigor in guiding companies to sustainable market leadership positions,” said Doug Kahn, chairman and CEO, Ahura Scientific. “He will be an invaluable asset in helping to assure we capitalize on the solid platform we have built in our products, partnerships and brand.”

“In the five years since its inception, Ahura Scientific has delivered breakthroughs in the safety and security markets with its chemical identification products and best-in-class solutions optimized for the pharmaceutical and consumer products markets. I look forward to helping Ahura Scientific continue to shape itself into one of the great innovators that significantly transforms multiple industries,” said Mr. Boyda.

In 2006, Boyda was inducted into the SSI (Security Solutions International) Security Industry Hall of Fame, a lifetime achievement award that recognizes individuals whose distinguished careers have helped shape the security industry.

Ahura Scientific and its executives have received numerous prestigious awards, including the Ernst and Young 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year award (Founder and President Dr. Daryoosh Vakhshoori); R&D Magazine’s R&D 100; the Industrial Design Society of America Award (IDEA) for Excellence in Industrial Design; the 2007 SBANE Innovation Award; the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Chemical Detection Industry Innovation & Advancement of the Year Award; and, most recently, the Boston Business Journal’s 2008 Best Places to Work Award.
