KNAUER now officially a place of the future
The Berlin-based manufacturer of high-tech laboratory instruments has now been awarded the “Zukunftsort Berlin Südwest” seal. Juri Effenberg, project manager of the “Regional Incubator Berlin Southwest”, presented Managing Director Alexandra Knauer with the glass sign at the company’s headquarters in Zehlendorf.
The “Zukunftsorte” concept, which was launched by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, aims to strengthen Berlin as a location for business, science and research. Highlighting outstanding innovative institutions and companies with the Zukunftsort seal not only promotes their visibility within the city, but also makes the high density of such players in Berlin known to the outside world – an important attractiveness factor for investment.
At places of the future, networking between science and business is actively practiced. KNAUER on Hegauer Weg in Zehlendorf is such a place, as the company has been committed to a vital exchange between business and science for years in addition to its activities as an innovative technology company. For example, KNAUER regularly organizes or participates in network meetings on technical, entrepreneurial or sustainable topics in Berlin.
Last but not least, the company has extensive links with companies in the region via employees who have studied or worked at various academic institutions in Berlin and via sustainable supply chains.
“We are delighted and see the Zukunftsort seal as a great recognition and an incentive not to let up with our network activities and successful product development. Our future is based on the ideas that we develop today. If these are competitive and sustainable, they will help to secure a future worth living for many people,” said KNAUER CEO Alexandra Knauer on receiving the award.
KNAUER Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH develops and manufactures high-tech laboratory equipment, e.g. HPLC systems, that are used to carry out analyses or purify valuable substances such as active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company played an important role in the development of systems for lipid nanoparticle encapsulation of mRNA active ingredients, like those used for coronavirus vaccination. The sales network extends to over 70 countries. Alexandra Knauer, who has owned the company since 2000, and Managing Director Carsten Losch attach great importance to corporate responsibility towards the 200 employees as well as towards the environment and society.
