L-3 Expands Portfolio of Security Technologies
Bethesda, MD – Communications’ Security and Detection Systems has acquired CyTerra and SafeView, two providers of technology for homeland security applications. Financial details were not disclosed and the acquisitions are forecasted to be slightly accretive to 2006 earnings . Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Orlando, Florida, CyTerra develops and manufactures military and security sensors for detection of mines and trace explosives using ground penetrating radar and magnetic technology. Based in Santa Clara, California and founded in 2002, SafeView develops and manufactures security systems and portals based on millimeter wave technology, including the Scout Personnel Screening System. “CyTerra and SafeView are initial steps in L-3’s goal to consolidate the ‘best of the best’ high technology products companies in what is now a fragmented security market,” stated Frank C. Lanza, L-3 Communications chairman and CEO.
