Leica Microsystems Vice President Completes First Year with Great Success

Bannockburn, IL. Leica Microsystems is pleased to announce that Douglas Reed, age 49, who joined Leica Microsystems on November 19, 2007 as Vice President for the Life Science Division, North America and has completed his first year in the position.

“Our focus has been and will continue to be to allow scientists to extract the maximum value possible through a lifetime relationship with a preferred provider, Leica Microsystems. That is our goal,“ explains Reed as he ends his first year with Leica Microsystems. Over the past year, Reed has reorganized the existing North American Life Science business to focus more closely on key markets and the benefits Leica Microsystems brings to the table and has realized a significant increase in customer satisfaction as a result. “Our key projects substantiate and support our goal of being a customer-centric organization.“

Reed has over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and support of life science and chemical analysis products. Prior to joining Leica Microsystems, Reed held an executive role as Vice President of worldwide sales at start-up nanotechnology company, Sensicore. Prior to this, he held positions at Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies, which included Senior Director of Sales for the North American Pharmaceutical Business, Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis Division. He also served as Senior Director of Agilent’s Marketing and Field Support Center. This 80-plus member team was responsible for marketing and technical support for the Americas.

Reed is a graduate of the MBA Executive Program at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Marquette University. Reed is a native Chicagoan. He and his wife have four children.
