Leica RemoteCare: A New Remote Diagnostic Tool to Service

Nussloch, Germany. Leica Microsystems proudly introduces a software tool for 24 hour remote monitoring of complex lab equipment. Leica Microsystems’ customers’ expectations of systems for the laboratory and research environment are high: The instruments are required to work around the clock with minimum instrument downtime. Leica Microsystems’ answer is the new service tool called RemoteCare to remotely monitor, access and repair products in use at customer sites.

The use of RemoteCare increases instrument uptime and productivity, by predicting system issues and ensuring that instruments are always operating at optimum efficiency. In case of instrument issues, customers and Leica Microsystems’ service will be notified via sms or e-mail enabling both of them to take corrective actions immediately and pro-actively in order to avoid breakdowns. Another tailored solution offered by Leica Microsystems to help deliver better patient care, because RemoteCare acts like a virtual technician.

As privacy and security are of highest importance, RemoteCare limits each user to specific data, views, actions and blocks access to customer and patient data. The direct, remote monitoring only allows diagnostic access to system information.

RemoteCare is offered for the Leica ASP300 S tissue processor and the Leica TCS SP5 confocal microscope. It will soon be available for the Leica Peloris tissue processor as well as most other computerized Leica equipment.
