Lonza Announces New Head of Lonza Bioscience

Lonza announces the change in the position of Head of Lonza Bioscience. Anja Fiedler will become the new division head and member of the Lonza Management Committee (MC) as of 15 April 2009.

Anja Fiedler replaces Shawn Cavanagh, who will leave the organization to pursue other interests. We would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank Shawn for his dedication, especially for the excellent and successful integration of the Bioscience business and its entire people around the world into the Lonza organization. We wish Shawn well in his future endeavors.

Anja Fiedler brings significant global experience and knowledge to Lonza. She has led large organizations, has strong sales, marketing and operational experience and has a track record of coaching talent and leading people. She has most recently served as Managing Director of Philip Morris Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary. Prior to her work at Philip Morris Int, Anja Fiedler held several positions of increasing responsibility at Unilever in Germany and Switzerland, including Marketing Manager of the Regional Innovation Centre in Bangkok, Thailand and Category Director of Personal Care for South Africa.

Anja Fiedler holds an MBA from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany. After a short transition period in Basel, Switzerland she will relocate to the United States where she will be based at the Lonza Bioscience headquarters in Walkersville, Maryland.
