MOgene, LC, a Leading Genomics Service Company, to Offer 454 GS FLX+ Option for High-Quality, Sanger-Like Reads With the Power of Next-Generation Throughput

ST. LOUIS, MO – MOgene, LC, a leading genomics service provider headquartered in St. Louis, MO, announced today the offering of new extra-long reads on Roche’s 454 GS FLX+ next generation sequencing platform. MOgene is one of the first companies in the USA to offer this long read sequencing upgrade which delivers millions of bases from high-quality, Sanger-length reads. MOgene personnel have been trained by Roche’s technical personnel on instrument and protocols upgrades to have this offering in effect immediately.

Shaukat Rangwala, VP of MOgene, said, “Customers have been waiting eagerly for these new long reads and have been calling MOgene with potential projects.” Rangwala further mentioned that the results from initial sequencing runs confirm what 454 has stated in their press releases of longer, high quality reads. “The greatest benefit of this long read technology is in assembling genomes and transcriptomes with large repetitive regions, such as in plants. MOgene was one of the key member of the consortium to sequence Oil Palm genome in 2009. This sequencing upgrade will absolutely benefit these types of large genomic projects.”

MOgene, LC is also a certified service provider for Agilent microarrays and a Service provider for NimbleGen arrays. Rangwala, also mentioned that they are now offering CGH/SNP arrays on Agilent platform and 4.2 M high density arrays on NimbleGen platform. Other services include RNA/DNA isolation, Real time PCR services and Bioinformatics.

MOgene recently expanded its operation and has hired additional people to handle the increased number of requests.
