Farhawk Marketing Servicesannounced today that three innovative new laboratory benches will be introduced to North America at Pittcon 2012 in Orlando, Florida, March 12-15th.

The new Model BCHLC 4555, BCHLC4575 and BCHLC9075 electrical IonBench LC benches contribute significantly to lab safety and productivity.

They are stable, secure platforms that electrically raise and lower stacked HPLC/UHPLC systems. The BCHLC4555 and BCHLC4575 at 45 cm (18 inches wide) and the BCHLC9075 at 90 cm wide (35 inches) are large enough to safely and securely accommodate any stacked HPLC/UHPLC system available in the industry.

The benches raise and lower by up to 30 cm (12 inches).

IonBench LC Promotes Lab Safety

“The primary goal of IonBench LC is to enhance safety during routine operation of high pressure liquid chromatographs”, said Tim Hawkins of FarHawk Marketing Services. “Installed on a conventional height bench or table, stackable HPLC/UHPLC towers can approach six feet in height. Solvent reservoirs which require routine attention are at the top of the system. Thus it is very difficult to safely check and refill solvents. Most operators currently use a step stool to reach the top of the HPLC/UHPLC system. This means that they must obtain the step stool from its storage place in the lab, climb up and down from the stool to maintain solvents, stand on the small surface area of the step stool while they are servicing the instrument, and partially block the floor space around the system while they are performing this routine operation. This activity represents multiple opportunities for an accident and takes time. With IonBench LC, the operator simply flips a switch to lower the system to a safe and manageable height, does the solvent task, and raises the platform back up to operating height

Depending upon the model, the work surface is raised and lowered by one or two central and stable telescoping columns that eliminate any risk of tipping. The columns are securely fastened to a base with lockable casters, thus preventing accidental movement.

Another advantage of IonBench LC is its transportable nature. The base with casters simplifies moving the HPLC/UHPLC system around. Now analysts can easily share the HPLC/UHPLC with other mass spectrometers, transfer of the entire HPLC/UHPLC system to at-line process monitoring stations, or if permanent bench space is already occupied, enjoy a convenient way to expand analytical output without sacrificing additional bench space.
