New Microscope Positioning Equipment, High Resolution Focusing and Scanning Stages released by PI

PI (Physik Instrumente) LP has released a catalog on precision motion control equipment for high resolution microscopy.

PI’s catalog covers a number of product ranges.

Novel Piezo-Motorized XY Positioning Stages

These stages provide positioning ranges to 4 Inches and above with velocity from microns per second to 4″/second. They are equipped with linear encoders for 0.1 µm resolution. Due to their ultrasonic drive properties they are self-locking at rest, with excellent long-term stability.

Application Examples

Two Photon Microscopy, Optical Trapping, STORM Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy,

PALM Photoactivated Localization Microscopy, STED Stimulated Emission Depletion, SIM Structured Illumination Microscope, Surface Metrology

High-Speed NanoFocus Objective Positioners

PIFOC® piezo-driven fast nanofocus devices provide positioning ranges from 50µm to 2000µm. Used in in Super-Resolution microscopy and Z-stack image acquisition because of their sub-nanometer resolution fast step and settle behavior, they also make for very effective autofocus systems, typically 10 times faster than traditional motor drives.

Piezo-Flexure Sample Positioners / Scanners

Instead of moving the objective lens, the sample scanners, move a slide, a well plate of an incubation chamber. The PInano® stage family consists of more than 10 models of XY, XYZ and Z positioners with a variety of, travel ranges, apertures, and feedback sensors to suit any need from focusing to high speed 3-dimensional tracking.

Controllers and Software

A variety of single and multi-axis piezo controllers for laboratory use and OEMs are offered.

Controllers are compatible with leading imaging software platforms such as Metamorph® and µManager, and LabView® and MATLAB® drivers are also available.
