Nova Biomedical Expands Partnership with PAIA Biotech to Enable Earlier Productivity and Product Quality Assessment in Cell Line Development
From Single Cell to High-Value Clone
PAIA Titer is designed to integrate productivity data into a connected cell line development workflow rather than serving as a standalone endpoint measurement.
“Cell line development is ultimately about making the right decisions earlier,” said John Luck, president of Nova Biomedical’s Biopharma business. “By bringing productivity and product quality data forward in the workflow, PAIA Titer enables scientists to identify the clones with the greatest potential sooner and focus their time and resources where they matter most. Its integration with the VIPS PRO and Cell Metric X platforms is another important step toward connecting the data scientists use to move from a single cell to a high-value clone.”
At the front of the cell line development workflow, the NanoCellect® WOLF G2® cell sorter enables scientists to enrich selected cell populations and gently isolate viable cells using low-pressure microfluidic sorting.
The VIPS PRO integrated single-cell cloning platform combines gentle nanodroplet single-cell seeding, AI-assisted cell detection, integrated imaging, clonality assurance and assay capabilities. This enables teams to progress from single-cell deposition through clone assessment and selection without relying on multiple disconnected systems.
The VIPS PRO platform’s double-lock clonality assurance combines nanodroplet and whole-well imaging to support image-based clonality evidence from day 0, while integrated assay workflows add productivity and product quality information to the clone selection process.
PAIA Titer technology is also integrated with Nova Biomedical’s scalable Cell Metric X imaging and automation platform for high-throughput clonality assurance and clone growth monitoring. Cell Metric X combines high-resolution, multi-plane whole-well imaging, AI-assisted image analysis and scalable automation, supporting workflows from standalone imaging to fully integrated robotic environments.
Together, PAIA Titer, VIPS PRO and Cell Metric X connect clonality, growth and productivity data earlier in cell line development, helping scientists make more informed clone selection decisions.
Extending the Data Journey into Process Development and Manufacturing
Nova Biomedical’s technologies continue to support scientists after clone selection as programs advance into process development, scale-up and manufacturing. BioProfile® FLEX2 provides automated, multi-parameter cell culture analysis for monitoring culture chemistry, gases, cell density, viability and osmolality, while BioProfile FAST CDV supports rapid cell density and viability measurement. OsmoTECH® systems provide osmolality testing across upstream processing, downstream processing, formulation and quality control. Artel® liquid-handling quality assurance technologies help laboratories verify dispensing performance and maintain confidence in automated workflows. Together, these platforms extend the data journey from early cell line development into process characterization, manufacturing and regulated quality environments.
