Pall Corporation Announces Expansion of Its Latin America Presence; Felix M. Diaz to Lead the Initiative
EAST HILLS, N.Y.–Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL), a global leader in filtration, separation and purification systems and technologies, today announced a five-year geographical expansion initiative in Latin America, to capitalize on the region’s rapid growth as an emerging market. The initiative will encompass Pall’s Life Sciences and Industrial businesses in Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Latin America represents a significant growth opportunity for Pall. The Company established its first regional direct presence in 1998 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pall provides a complete range of Total Fluid Management (SM) products, engineered systems and advanced technology services across the region, with particularly strong presence in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela. Its regional customers represent a broad cross-section of the Latin American economy, including the fuels & chemicals, food & beverage, power generation, microelectronics, biopharmaceutical, health care, aerospace & transportation, and water processing industries.
A key component of Pall’s expansion plans in Latin America is the establishment of a systems engineering design center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new design center will serve as a regional scientific services hub linked to the Company’s global network of engineering centers in Europe, the U.S. and India. With the new systems design center, Pall will substantially expand its engineering and technical staff in the region, strengthening and enlarging its customer support infrastructure across Latin America.
The Sao Paulo design center will operate under the Pall Advanced Separation Systems (PASS) group, the applications, engineering and procurement entity for Pall’s global process systems business. PASS provides integrated process solutions that meet regulatory, industry and customer requirements at all levels, including project management, systems design and fabrication, installation, documentation, risk analysis, validation/qualification, operational training and complete after-market service.
To direct the Latin America expansion initiative, Pall has appointed Felix M. Diaz as President, Pall Latin America Region. Mr. Diaz previously served as President of global operations for Pall Life Sciences. He joined the Company in 2000.
Don Stevens, President, Pall Corporation said, “There is a tremendous need and significant commitments for major investment in infrastructure throughout Latin America, including power generation, fuels and chemicals processing, blood banking and fractionation, and water purification. All these areas are well within Pall’s core competencies in the realm of filtration, separation and purification technologies. With the region’s large population base and stabilizing economies, Latin America represents a huge potential market for our high value products and services.”
