Parkson and ABB Partner on Integrated Sustainability Solutions
Companies Will Bring a Massive Mobile Nutrient Removal System on a 53 Foot Long Trailer to ABB’s Automation & Power World Next Week
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.–When you combine a global leader in power and automation technologies with a global leader in water and wastewater treatment the result is outstanding and the environment in which we live benefits the most. ABB and Parkson have decided to partner to develop new equipment and solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable planet.
“We are all very proud of this project. Customers will be able to visit our booth, interact with ABB’s equipment, with our DynaSand® D2 and learn more about our industrial expertise”
The product of this partnership can be seen during ABB’s Automation & Power World 2010 (May 18th-20th – Houston, TX). ABB is expecting over 3,000 engineers and business leaders from more than 40 countries to attend the show. More than 500 hours of workshops and hands-on training sessions, and over 60 customer case studies will be presented.
ABB and Parkson will bring the Mobile Nutrient Removal System to the show floor, which should be one of the event’s highlights. The Parkson/ABB trailer-mounted system includes a DynaSand® D2 filter system powered by an ultra-quiet, efficient rotary screw compressor and monitored and controlled by ABB instruments and controls. The system has a nominal capacity of 50 gpm, but similar full-scale systems are currently rated up to 25 MGD. The heart of the monitoring system is the on-line ABB Aztec 600 Phosphorus analyzer, used for ultra-low phosphorus applications, which feeds the critical information to the ABB AC500 scalable PLC utilizing proprietary Parkson algorithms.
“We are all very proud of this project. Customers will be able to visit our booth, interact with ABB’s equipment, with our DynaSand® D2 and learn more about our industrial expertise,” says Bobb Campbell, Parkson’s Director of Industrial Systems.
A proven, reliable technology with thousands of installations and over 30 years of operating history, the DynaSand® D2 is used to produce superior potable water, as well as ultra-clean municipal and industrial waste water. The system is capable of producing filtrates with phosphorus as low as 0.01 mg/L.
“The resulting water quality is comparable to that of membranes, but at substantial savings. And with ABB instruments and control, the chemical usage is minimized – as little as half of what other systems require,” explains Brett Boyd, Parkson’s Pilot Program Manager.
“We are very pleased to be working with Parkson Corporation, a market leader in the Water Industry. Our collaborative solutions will help our customers more effectively meet their sustainability goals, now and in the future,” says Bill Gibson, Vice President, Water Industry North America, ABB Inc.
