PentaBase appoints Funakoshi as non-exclusive distributor
Tokyo-based Funakoshi is one of the leading importer and distributor of research reagents and instruments for more than 40 years. It has 130 employees of which approximately 40 are engaged in sales and support. The mission of Funakoshi is offering many useful tools with leading edge technologies for Japanese researchers from all over the world to support and develop their research. For more information, please visit Funakoshi’s website: www.funakoshi.co.jp.
With it’s strong sales force and knowledge in the area, Funakoshi is now offering PentaBase’s product pipeline of both standard and proprietary products. PentaBase’s proprietary products are based on a DNA analogue technology that offers features like high affinity, high signal-to-noise ratio, high specificity and more secure analysis of genetic material (fewer false positives) than standard technologies and include amongst others three types of probes for Real-Time PCR and primers for next generation sequencing, PCR and more improving the sensitivity of the test and increase the multiplexing capabilities of assays.
PentaBase’s technologies are verified by a number of leading research institutions and companies. The uses of PentaBase’s proprietary technologies in genetic research and diagnostic are numerous including snp detection, expression quantification, epigenetic studies (MeC), somatic mutation detection, sequencing (first and next generation), copy number variation, array hybridization, knock down and much more and they are used routinely for diagnostics and prognostics in the clinic.
PentaBase was founded back in 2006, but has roots back to the discovery of Intercalating Nucleic Acid (INA) made in 1998 by the founder Ulf B. Christensen. PentaBase’s proprietary products comprise the new improved DNA analogue called pentabases and are protected by patents and applications. Besides offering cutting edge DNA technology for research and diagnostic use, PentaBase also offers service in connection with developing real-time PCR based assays. PentaBase has among other achievements been awarded “Best young European Biotech Company” Dec. 2008 by Europe unlimited.
