PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced the release of 11 new AlphaScreen® SureFire® assay kits for the rapid detection of full-length kinase activation in cell lysates. The new kits launched at the 48th annual meeting of The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) represent new assays for mapping of cellular kinase pathways involved in many complex diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular, inflammation, and metabolism disorders.

PerkinElmer’s AlphaScreen® SureFire® platform is a homogeneous “mix and read” technology that eliminates the cumbersome multiple wash steps typically needed in assays protocols, as well as in Western Blot analysis usually performed when analyzing complex cellular pathways. The AlphaScreen® SureFire® kit greatly simplifies complex protocols, and makes them amenable to automation for high-throughput screening. Moreover, the AlphaScreen® SureFire® kit measures full-length, endogeonous protein phosphorylation in a cell based format, offering high sensitivity and precision.

With the addition of the 11 new assays, there are now, in total, 39 AlphaScreen® SureFire® kits available, allowing complete characterization of cell kinase signaling. Among the new kits are two that measure direct phosphorylation of cellular receptors: Insulin and IGF-1 receptors.
