Promega Joins United Nations Global Compact as Part of Corporate Sustainability Program
MADISON, WISCONSIN – Promega Corporation reinforces its commitment to socially responsible business practices on a worldwide basis by signing the United Nations Global Compact. The UN Global Compact is a policy initiative for businesses that are committed to supporting the Compact’s ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. With over 8,700 corporate participants and other stakeholders from over 130 countries, it is the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world.
“For Promega, this was an easy choice. Promega has always held similar values to the UN Global Compact,” explains Kris Yetter, Promega Sustainability Team Leader and General Branch Manager. “With the launch of the formal Promega Sustainability Program in 2009 and now by signing the Compact, we continue to recognize the business value of operating in an ethical, environmental, and socially responsible manner. Thanks to a focused effort worldwide, we are already seeing important improvements.”
The Global Compact is a practical framework for the development, implementation, and disclosure of sustainability policies and practices. This framework offers participants a wide spectrum of workstreams, management tools and resources – all designed to help advance sustainable business models and markets. Founded in 2000, this voluntary initiative focuses on public accountability and transparency of member organization to advance the UN Global Compact and Millennium Goals.
