Real Time Genomics to Show SLIM Search(TM) Technology on Windows HPC Server 2008 at Bio-IT World Conference
Introducing Deep Genomic Analysis
SAN FRANCISCO, April 27 — Real Time Genomics will demonstrate solutions for deep genomic analysis at Bio-IT World Conference 2009 in Boston, April 27-29. Two applications, one for comparative genomics and another for gene expression, show genome-scale computation in real time using a compute cluster on Windows HPC Server 2008. The demonstration can be seen at kiosk #3 in Microsoft’s exhibit space, booth #311.
SLIM Search sequence comparison technology from Real Time Genomics offers genomic mapping and alignment functions that are highly tolerant of mismatches such as indels and substitutions. This makes SLIM Search well suited to challenging problems such as SNP discovery during disease investigation, where millions of reads must be accurately mapped against the full human genome.
Working with Microsoft, Real Time Genomics has optimized its code to operate with the Windows HPC Server 2008 platform. “Real Time Genomics helps give genomic researchers the ability to perform deep genomic analysis, in real time, while also benefiting from Microsoft’s easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use and widely supported platform,” said Michael Naimoli, U.S. life sciences industry solutions director, Microsoft Corp.
High growth expectations for the next generation sequencing systems market may be tempered by the realization that current analysis tools are challenged to unlock value from the data. “The next generation of sequencing systems has turned the tables making sequencing data a commodity and elevating its analysis to the highest level,” said Dr. Hugh Young Rienhoff, Jr., Founder, MyDaughtersDNA.org. “Whoever builds the interpretive platform for this massive data load will take the prize.”
