Restek Announces Transition to 100% Employee Ownership and Creation of SilcoTek

Restek Corporation announced their anticipated January 1, 2009 transition from 22% to 100% employee ownership under an ESOP structure. Restek has been planning for and testing employee ownership models since its inception in 1985. Don McCandless will continue to lead the company as Head Coach. Founder Paul Silvis will remain as Chairman of the Board of Directors. The transition to 100% Employee Ownership will ensure stability and continued growth, while maintaining the status of an independent chromatography consumables manufacturer. Corporate focus on Plus One, Innovation, and Execution will continue to be a foundation for success.

As part of this transaction, Restek’s Performance Coatings “RPC” division will become an independent company, SilcoTek, led by Paul Silvis and members of the Performance Coatings team. The new company will focus on developing new coating technologies for the passivation, anticoking, automotive, and ultrahigh vacuum markets. The new organization, SilcoTek Corporation, will remain a key supplier to Restek and Restek will continue to offer Siltek, Sulfinert, and Silcosteel coated products for chromatography markets.
