RTS Bucks the Recession Trend

Robotic Technology Systems PLC (RTS) parent company of Manchester based RTS Life Science and RTS Flexible Systems has announced its preliminary results for year ended 31 December 2009.

A high technology business supplying products and integrated systems to automate scientific and industrial processes, RTS increased its turnover in 2009 by 13% and, is bucking the current downward trend by developing capabilities to fit the various niche markets it serves. The Life Science business is placing emphasis on core competencies in sample management with selective diversification into niche adjacent markets whilst, the Flexible Systems business is focussing on robotics, vision and high integrity software development.

According to Chris Brown, Chairman of RTS, “The Group has invested significantly in new products for the Life Science business over the last few years and with its superior after-sales service is continuing to win business in a difficult market.”

In addition to investments in new product development, the Company has also improved its geographical presence in February 2010 by acquiring Hatch Science LLC, a Boston-based company which has complementary products and skills.

Gary Walsh the new Chief Executive of the Company and former Managing Director of the Life Science business commented, “The changes that have been implemented in the last twelve months have ensured that our business is well positioned to continue on the positive trajectory experienced throughout 2009 and into 2010”.
