Shimadzu Demonstrates Applications of Ultrafast Mass Spectrometry at ASMS 2011

COLUMBIA, Md. – Shimadzu Scientific Instruments will present new applications for ultra-fast mass spectrometry (UFMS) at ASMS 2011 in Denver. Data presented will showcase the application of UFMS with Shimadzu’s LCMS-8030 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer to pharmaceuticals, environmental, food safety, forensics, metabolomics, therapeutic drug monitoring and natural products.

UFMS delivers speed without sacrificing sensitivity, resolution or mass range. When coupled with the chromatographic resolving power of the Nexera UHPLC, Shimadzu’s LCMS-8030 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer delivers UFMS solutions that accelerate workflows and achieve ultra-fast speed while overcoming common issues such as loss of sensitivity, poor reproducibility and cross-talk.

With current trends moving toward higher pressures and faster operating speeds for greater throughput, the LCMS-8030’s exceptional scan speed of 15,000 u/sec and ability to perform 500 different MRM measurements per second, enable researchers to fully appreciate the capabilities of UHPLC.

“Typically, improvements in measurement speed require sacrifices in sensitivity or resolution,” said Christopher Gilles, LCMS product manager at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. “But with the UFMS platform from Shimadzu, data quality is not compromised, enabling researchers to detect an increasing number of target analytes with greater sensitivity and in more samples than ever before, at a faster rate.”
