Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc. Opens New Laboratory in the San Francisco Bay Area to Accelerate New Product and Business Development for the Pharmaceutical and Life Science Fields
COLUMBIA, Md. — Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc., a Shimadzu Group company, has officially opened its new research and development (R&D) facility in South San Francisco, California.
Since April 2024, SSI has been enhancing its R&D division with a focus on developing analytical instruments, software, applications and lab automation solutions tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and life science customers in North America.
The South San Francisco lab will focus on three key research areas: (1) analytical methods for drug delivery systems (DDS) including lipid nanoparticles (LNP) and adeno-associated viruses (AAV); (2) new solutions for bioprocessing and preparative purification; and (3) cell culture solutions. The lab will be equipped with the triple quadrupole LCMS-8060RX, the Nexera ultra high-performance liquid chromatograph (UHPLC), the Nexera UC supercritical fluid chromatograph and the CF3-8030 centrifugal field-flow fractionation system.
