Shimadzu’s Prominence HPLC Vials Offer Optimum Performance for Sample Testing
COLUMBIA, Md. — Researchers often overlook the importance of selecting the right vials for high-performance liquid chromatography. Shimadzu designed the Prominence HPLC vials with superior glass and septa quality, which are critical to enhance performance in HPLC testing.
Prominence HPLC 1.5 mL and 4 mL sample vials use a PTFE/silicone septum, so their cleanliness is suitable for everyday applications and the most discriminating LCMS analyses. The septum is press-fit inside the vial cap without bonding agents, which eliminates possible sample contamination. The design also prevents an autosampler’s needle from pushing the septum into the vial. For high-throughput labs, a snap-cap version of the 1.5 mL vial, using the same PTFE/silicone septum, is also available.
A 6 mm opening in the 1.5 mL vials provides a better target for an autosampler’s needle and makes filling easier and cleaner. Uniformity of glass vial bottom thickness ensures consistent needle depth from run to run and is one of 14 manufacturing points strictly controlled by Shimadzu.
Prominence Low and Extra Low Adsorption clear glass vials are made from pharmaceutical Type I borosilicate glass, which provides extremely low compound loss through adsorption or catalytic degradation. Amber glass vials are made from Type I Class B glass. Both of these vials have very low reactivity, pH shift and leaching characteristics. The Extra Low Adsorption vials are a must for mass spectrometry users or when working with micromolar concentrations or low sample volumes where the surface-to-volume effects are more pronounced.
Prominence HPLC vials are available in 1 mL, 1.5 mL, 4 mL, 13 mL, 200 mL and 300 mL sizes. All Prominence HPLC vials have been tested for compatibility with each of Shimadzu’s autosamplers to ensure superior performance.
