Shimadzu’s UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometers Improve QC and Analysis for the Manufacture of Photovoltaic Materials

New Technical Literature for Solar Applications Now Available

COLUMBIA, Md. – Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has completed a new full-color brochure, “Measurement of Transmission and Reflectance of PV Materials and Cells,” for its line of UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometers.

Solar cell manufacturing plants continually seek higher conversion efficiency, and the evaluation of transmission and reflectance by a spectrophotometer at a specific wavelength region is required. The new brochure explains the role of Shimadzu’s SolidSpec-3700 and UV-3600 in the manufacture of solar cell materials, cells and modules. These instruments reduce measurement workload and achieve more efficient non-destructive analysis of PV materials.

In addition, Shimadzu offers two new application notes detailing the spectrophotometric analysis of photovoltaics. The first report reviews the absolute reflectance measurement of anti-reflective film in order to evaluate the performance of silicon-based solar cells. The second note introduces measurement results of absolute reflectance of a silicon wafer’s mirror-polished surface at various angles using the SolidSpec-3700.
