SIEMENS PROCESS ANALYTICS RECEIVES GTFK AWARD FROM THE INSTRUMENT SOCIETY OF AMERICA

ATLANTA – Members of the Siemens Industry Process Analytics Business Unit recently were awarded the prestigious Gilmer/Thomason/Fowler/Konrad (GTFK) Award by the Instrument Society of America Analysis Division (ISA AD) for a technical paper titled “Ambient Temperature Testing Issues for Process Analyzers.” Bob Farmer, global gas chromatograph product manager in Process Analytics, received the award during the ISA AD Symposium in Garden Grove, Calif., on April 25.

The paper, written and presented by Farmer, and co-authored by Siemens’ Udo Gellert and Ty Campbell, describes testing techniques used to validate a process analyzer’s behavior, and offers recommendations as to the test set up and apparatus that may enable manufacturers and users of analyzers to better predict real world performance and reliability.

The GTFK Award is presented annually to the author of the best paper at the AD Spring Symposium. Initiated in 1976, the award is sponsored by the AD as a memorial to four of its past directors who are deceased, Fred Gilmer of DuPont Co.,Edward Thomason and Lewis Fowler, both of the Monsanto Co. and Ken Konrad of Intek Corporation.

Farmer, based in Bartlesville, Okla., has been with Siemens for 38 years. Co-author, Udo Gellert is a 33-year veteran of Siemens, while Ty Campbell joined Siemens one year ago.
